West Coast Designs, under the direction of Terry Hodges, has been located in Dunsborough since 1987. We specialise in the design of one-off houses in the south-west region and our building design expertise also extends to home renovations and additions. No building design project is too big or too small for us.
The design and construction of a house is usually the largest and most exciting (sometimes daunting) project for a couple to undertake and we know that the design process can be enjoyable for everyone involved if enough time is allocated to explore the options. We prefer to limit the number of house design projects running concurrently so that we can spend as much time as needed developing the design of a client’s house to the point of design excellence.
We understand that a successful house design begins with the development of a clear and detailed client brief and the starting point of every new home project is to help our clients develop their brief by asking the right questions and presenting lots of photos illustrating various styles and range of materials. In this way, the design of the house begins from a point of common understanding and the design process becomes streamlined.
The initial design stages for a new house consist of hand-made drawings accompanied by a realistic cost estimate to ensure that a budget check is in place from the beginning. Design Development and Contract Documentation can be drawn using CAD software to produce 3-D modelling, sun studies and colour rendering
The Contract Documentation stage is always thoroughly detailed to ensure a smooth and problem free construction process and our specification incorporates everything down to the smallest component.
House design is not just about the external elements and the selection of interior fittings and materials, the design of built in cabinets and lighting design are all an integral part of the package. We have a lot of experience in these aspects and enjoy assisting our clients in the interior design of their home.
